I have a very sensitive, stubborn German Shepherd. I signed him up for a two week board and train with Nick. We were going on vacation, and I was worried that he wouldn’t do well in a kennel without stimulation to keep him from being bored. Turns out, Nick was able to open all sorts of doors for Quinney! This is a dog that would growl and bite if you tried to trim his nails or muzzle him…. transformed into a dog with a patient ‘help me understand’ mentality with Nick’s guidance. I can now trim his nails without a fight, muzzle him if need be, and have him come to me on command!

Nick’s passion for dogs shows in his training. He doesn’t just help the dog…. He helps the owner communicate with the dog as well! Highly recommended!!

I did individual training sessions and board and train with Nick. He teaches you how to understand how a dog thinks. After having lessons with him it completely makes since on why your dog is behaving the way he does. He is compassionate and extremely knowledgeable about dogs and their behaviors. I learned that I was the one needing trained not my dog. lol Nicks prices are reasonable and he goes the extra mile to make sure you understand the correct way on training. He also is always there to answer questions when you are at home and may need some help with an issue that comes up. He always responds to text and calls in a timely manner. I highly recommend Nick!

Nick is very professional, patient and my dog and I both loved his gentle technique. All I had to say is “do you want to go see Nick?” and my dog (that’s reluctant sometimes to get in the car) would always get very excited and would jump right in. I hope to do some refresh work this Spring. I would and have highly recommend Canine Connoisseur.

I had a fantastic experience working with Nick. We have a border collie who was experiencing some reactivity issues, and while that is something that will always have to be managed, she has made great progress. He was very knowledgeable and thorough during the lessons and Piper really enjoyed going to see him. We’d ask her if she was ready to go to school and it was instant happy taps and spins. I liked how he had different methods ready to tackle a problem and wasn’t a “one size fits all” as I had experienced with other trainers. 10/10 I would recommend for people who also have “problem pups” or even just simple obedience lessons.

I seriously cannot recommend Nick enough! The relationship with my dog and his behavior have improved tremendously. He is now able and willing to listen to commands. He is much more fulfilled, and we have found training sessions at home to be a fun and rewarding a activity. He gives direction and insight that is practical and helpful. We have a mini smooth hair Fox terrier/chihuahua mix little girl. She has what we called “trigger”. Even though we have never been able to really figure out all of them. We have contacted a couple of trainers in the past and have taken her to training classes since she was a puppy. Nothing really seemed to help because we didn’t know what her ”tells” were. We couldn’t understand what she was telling us until it was too late and she was having a fit. Someone mentioned Nicholas Corey, from Canine Connoisseur to us. We decided to take Naiyah to him for his Board and Train Package. I do not speak the same language as our dog, but we have learned quite a bit to where it’s made a pretty big difference in our little dogs life and ours as well!!!! I am absolutely ecstatic with the results that we have experienced so far! We will definitely stay in touch, and may even come back to him for a little refresher training for my husband and I later on!

Want to know why Naava listens so well while we are out walking/running? The training she got with Canine Connoisseur Relationship-based Dog Training was pivotal in helping her gain confidence and learn commands. Canine connoisseur took her in for 3 weeks (she was supposed to go just 2 but he recognized she wasn't quite ready after 2) and treated her like a member of the family. I knew she was being cared for properly and worked hard. The whole time he had her I watched videos and saw pictures on fb of how well she was getting along. I highly recommend his training and approach!

We took our 1yr old Golden Retriever to Nick because we just weren't getting the recall and responses we wanted from her. After being with Nick and Nick giving us some instruction, she is a different dog. Don't get me wrong. She still has puppy energy and is not perfect yet, but her recall is great, and we have her off leash when she is outside with us. My wife commented she didn't know if that would ever happen. We also have kenneled her with Nick and love the attention she gets, the reinforcement of skills, and the interaction with other dogs. Would highly recommend Nick's services if your dog is not behaving as you desire.

I honestly can’t say enough great things about Nick and his passion for canines. Apollo, our 1 1/2 year old Huskey, always comes back from his time with Nick a more well-prepared dog to navigate human relationships. Nick is also always more than happy to answer my (many 😂) questions and share tips and resources. I would refer anyone to Nick, especially if you are finding yourself frustrated or at a loss for how to train & connect with your canine.

I was referred to Canine Connoisseur by a co-worker who had amazing results with her puppy. Leaving the first training session with Charlie made me realize that for his training to be successful, I had to be trained as well. Mr. Corey’s calm demeanor, training demonstrations, and patience helped us through 4-1 hour sessions. He made all of the commands seem so easy by the way Charlie responded to him. I’m pleased with the progress we’ve made in this amount of time.

We have 2 American Bullys and they were boarded for a week followed by 2 weeks of training and an additional week of e collar training. It’s like night and day with our pups. Not only did he lay the foundation for off leash training , he also gave us useful information that helped us as dog owners understand our dogs behavior and how to properly communicate with our dogs. My nine month golden retriever spent a few weeks with Nick😊 We were having trouble with leash walking, reactivity, jumping, appropriate boundaries and all the stupid puppy behaviors. Thanks to Nick, we now have a dog that we can enjoy, take places and, not worry about her being a complete lunatic.

I wish that I would’ve known about Nick/Canine Connoisseur. I foolishly took my dog to Indianapolis for training which was twice the price of what Nick charges. My dog was there for seven lessons we learned nothing and her behavior was worse. Every time that I pick her up, they would hand me a new leash, training collar or bag of treats that they felt that I should purchase to help with my dog’s training. I didn’t even know how to safely get my dog out of the car, without worrying about her running into traffic. When I showed up to Nick’s , this was the first thing he taught me. Knowing that I could safely get my dog out of the car without her sprinting or running away, made me realize that I need Nick’s help. I think I also realized that I was the problem, not the dog and that you don’t need 1 million different training tools. You just need to know how to use one of them appropriately and how to appropriately communicate to your dog.🐕

We took our Rottie to see Nick for a 2 week board and train. It was hard for me to leave him for 2 weeks, but Nick posted videos, sent update and pictures while Norman was with him. We knew Nick was amazing after we left our consultation. Norman was already listening to him before we left. Once he left the board and train Norman came back a new puppy for the better. He knows his commands and he listens better. We are still working with follow up so Nick can train us too. You can tell Nick has a passion for this. You can tell he loves the dogs and his job. We would recommend Nick to anyone. Nick is very professional and courteous.

Nicholas has been a huge help with me in training my 2-year-old husky and my 11 year old Australian shepherd, who were having awful fights up until we decided to do Board and Train with the husky. I've learned a lot about being a more consistent and calmer owner. Nicholas is great with dogs and has great rates.

Nick was so patient and kind with us as we decided which routes were best for training our dogs. His free consultation was great and really helped us see how things work and what we could expect. Our first dog we took to him as a 6 month old puppy and after the consult decided private lessons would be good for her as she was still so young. He helped open our eyes to dog psychology and training which we really needed as this was our first dog and we didn't have a clue what we were doing. He introduced great tools to use we hadn't heard of and we continue to use them. Our second dog was a stray and while Nick gave us the tools to be able to train a dog she was older, had already developed her own traits, and training 2 was overwhelming for us. We decided to send her for boarding with Nick and we loved seeing him post updates and pictures of her, we could see her and her progress. She came back to us a different dog eager to please, and most important to us, crate trained. I highly recommend Nick for your dog training needs, and send anyone I can his way!

Nick boarded my 2 dogs for a weekend. He asked plenty of questions about my dogs in order to keep them healthy, and know them while they were in his care. I reached out to Nick for help with my Choc. Lab puppy in the 2021, she was my 8th Lab but very high energy compared to my others! Nick was so patient with both of us and explained so much, not only about Greta's behavior but how my behavior was causing some of our issues! I couldn't afford to take my dog to lessons (though he has good prices) and I couldn't do much for my puppy and I mentioned having to re home him, because he didn't deserve to be left in a house alone with my cats who don't like him...so he helped me find a really good home for my dog and we keep in touch. I'm both happy and sad I found him a new home.

Had a huge win with D today!! I let him out in the yard and I didn’t see the Amazon guy in the neighbors drive way. D barked at him and started running over to him, I told him to stop once and he did, I then told him to come and he listened and stopped barking.

My kids insisted we try letting Greta loose in the house on Christmas! I was a nervous wreck.. She was perfect! She went politely from person to person, no jumping, no snatching things away from the kids, just my dream dog! I was so proud of her (and my kids for making me try it!) 13 adults and 2 kids under 5, way to go Greta!! Thank you so much for working with us!!!

Hey Nick, Just wanted to let you know how much you changed our life’s. We took Tucker camping over memorial weekend and he was a completely different dog. No leash pulling. He ignored all dogs even the ones that were barking and growling at him and pulling their owners to get to him. No growling at people walking by. He was a complete gentleman. Had him off leash in the woods and other places throughout the park and came to first time recall. thank you soo much. No more stress of what he might do anymore. Thank you for training me and giving Tucker a better relaxed life!!!

Nick is super knowledgeable on dogs and dog training. He made the process simple and gave us the ability and information to train them ourselves. You can tell he absolutely cares for each and every dog that comes to his training. That was important for us and he exceeded our expectations. We cannot recommend him enough for any of your dogs’ needs. We went to Nick for training with both of our dogs for different things and both of our dogs showed great results and really enjoyed Nick. The puppy class was great and gave us good skills on how to socialize and train our puppy when we got him. Private lessons were also very informative and helpful. Our other dog was reactive to dogs, but after private lessons with Nick she does so much better and hardly reacts to dogs on walks now. It made a huge difference for her and for us. Again, we could not recommend The Canine Connoisseur more!!
